The Adventures of the Little Bike

The Adventures of the Little Bike: The Little Bike Goes To The Seaside

The Little Bike wanted to go for the ride to Aberystwyth, but some of the Big Bikes didn't want him there. "You're too slow to play with us" they said. "You can't go".

The Little Bike was very sad. He wanted to see the seaside too. So, on Saturday when all the Big Bikes were gathering at Aust Services, the Little Bike joined them. "I know I'm only little", he said, "But I'll keep out the way!". "It's okay, Little Bike" the Boss Bike said, "You can come with us."

All the bikes started on the ride, with the Little Bike near the front.

"This is fun!" thought the Little Bike "I knew I this would be Fun!".

Things went well until Chepstow, where Mister Horse Box pulled out in front of the Little Bike.

"Oh no!" said the Little Bike as the Lead Bike overtook Mister Horse Box. "I'm too little to overtake here. Maybe after the next corner".

But around the next corner there still wasn't anywhere that the Little Bike could overtake. The Little Bike could see Lead Bike disappearing into the distance, and all the other Big Bikes queuing behind him.

The Little Bike was very sad, because he didn't want to delay anyone.

Then the Little Bike had a Cunning Plan. He pulled over, and let everyone go past. Tail End Chris stopped, and asked what was wrong.

"I'm too little to overtake, so I'll just tag along at the back and try and keep up". Tail End Chris said OK, and went on to catch up the other bikes. The Little Bike followed on at his own pace, enjoying the scenery and not worrying about keeping up. Soon, he lost sight of Tail End Charlie - not even a glimpse on long straights.

When the Little Bike reached Monmouth, he wondered what to do. He could either continue to Hereford, the next town on the route the Big Bikes were taken, or he could go someplace else on his own. "But I want to see the seaside!" the Little Bike thought to himself. "I may only be little, but I know I can get there!". So Little Bike continued on the road to Hereford. Over hills, through towns the Little Bike went, all on his own. Sometimes he would follow a car for a bit, but they always turned off out of the way. Some cars pulled over to let Little Bike pass. "Go on, Little Bike! You can get there!" they would cheer as he passed them.

The Little Bike reached Hereford, and was thinking were to go next.

Suddenly, he saw all the Big Bikes stopped at traffic lights! Little Bike was very happy. He filtered past the cars, and stopped alongside Tail End Chris, who nearly fell over with shock. "We thought we had left you behind!" he said. "You did," said Little Bike "but I knew I could get here! I may only be little, but I got here".

The Little Bike had another cunning plan. "Maybe I can go all the way to the seaside, but I can just follow like this," he suggested. "I may be only little, but I know I can get there to!"

The bikes all carried on toward the seaside. The roads were fast and windy, and the Little Bike soon lost sight of everyone. "I know I can get there, I know I can!" the Little Bike thought to himself.

Every now and then, Little Bike would catch up with one of the Big Bikes that had stopped to wait. This was lucky, as it meant that Little Bike didn't get lost, despite his best efforts.

Little Bike caught all the Big Bikes up again soon when they all had to stop because they were thirsty. Little Bike wasn't thirsty, however "I'm not thirsty" he said "I can keep going. I know I can get to the sea side!". Again, all the Big Bikes went on ahead, and soon the Little Bike was on his own again.

At one place, there were some evil road works that was stopping all the traffic. The Little Bike didn't care, he was able to pass all the stopped cars - "Even I can over take stopped cars!" thought the Little Bike.

He remembered that all the Big Bikes had to overtake on the move - maybe they weren't so far ahead as he thought. "I know I can make it, I know I can!" thought the Little Bike.

The Little Bike continued on gamely. He enjoyed the long, sweeping road following the beautiful valley. Some of the hills were steep, and the Little Bike struggled to keep going "I can make it to the top, I know I can I know I can!" he said. And he did make it to the top of the hill.

From here, he could see the long road toward the sea, but no other Bikes. Little Bike didn't care, though. From the hill, he could see a glimpse of the sea. "I'm almost there!" he cried. "I know I can make it." So on he chugged, toward the sea.

Soon, the Little Bike sat Aberystwyth. Tail End Bike led him through the streets to the sea front. Little Bike had made it, he was at the sea side! All the Big Bikes were there already, and were very surprised to see Little Bike. "We thought you were miles behind, but you got here!" they said.

"I knew I could get here, I knew it!" Little Bike was very happy.

Then Little Bike looked around at the town. "Actually, this place is pretty shitty," thought the Little Bike, forgetting this was a children's story. "And I'm not sure these pasties are very Cornish. The scenery on the way was pretty neat, can we see some more on the way back?"
